Disc 1 A

EMERGENCY Pilot (Airdate: January 15, 1972)

The pilot film directed by Jack Webb that introduced the hugely popular series. When fireman John Gage rescues someone who later dies of cardiac arrest, he volunteers for the paramedic training program. But despite the training, volunteer paramedics may not administer first aid until a California State Assembly bill is passed. Although one of the doctors involved in the training could help pass the bill, he doesn't believe in the program. What changes his mind, and the risks undertaken by the paramedics are some of the sorties told in this suspenseful and realistic film.

  A man brought into the hospital from a movie set is the first indication of an outbreak of botulism. A man breaks his back falling off a tower. Johnny plots his revenge after being the repeated target of practical jokes. A cameraman breaks his leg. Roy and Johnny rescue a boy trapped in a collapsed building.

A roaring canyon fire is raging out of control. As the threat to the

television actor Gary Crosby, as well as Leave It To Beaver's Tony
Dow. 

Dealer's Wild

Airdate:  2/26/1972

  Johnny keeps losing at cards and being stuck with doing the dishes at the station, so he creates his own card game. Roy talks down a boy in a plane after the pilot (the boy’s father) has a heart attack. A man attempts suicide three different ways. The station responds to an overturned gasoline tanker. A teenager overdoses and Roy and Johnny have to deal with disinterested bystanders.

NURSES WILD (Airdate: March 4, 1972)

Chester. Social issues as well as rescue work receive equal attention. When a
store owner suffers a heart attack after shooting a holdup man, both need the
paramedic's assistance to keep them alive. An episode that remains as
relevant as when it was first shown!
Cook's Tour

 PUBLICITY HOUND (Airdate: March 11, 1972)

Pride and ego take center stage. When an arrogant paramedic from
another outfit is repeatedly singled out as a hero by a television newsman,
Gage becomes infuriated. Meanwhile, Dr. Brackett's career is endangered
when he clashes with an influential tycoon.

A seaman in pain shows up at Rampart but doesn't speak English.  A woman is bitten by a rattlesnake.  A drunk in a car goes over an embankment, which causes a problem for Johnny

Dilemma

An obese man suffers from heart problems.  Several drug-related victims are seen at Rampart including a man with tetanus, a woman with gangrene, and a girl whose drugs were laced with sodium hydroxide.

Story: Johnny decides he can make extra money by riding in rodeos. A soda bottle explodes in a girl's face.  Later, at the same diner, a man is injured in a gas explosion. A child falls out of a tree.  A bus with school children and a nun goes off an embankment. Dixie has a run-in with a portable x-ray machine.

Goofs:  (1) When Station 51 and truck 43 are dispatched to the bus accident, the dispatcher gives the time out as 12:42... the call is supposed to be 16 miles from the nearest cross street, and while responding Roy states, "coming up on 16 miles", which leads us to believe that's how far they actually went. When Captain Stanley calls for an additional engine, dispatch assigns engine 801 and gives them a time out of 12:43... 16 miles in one minute? I want a vehicle that travels that well... (2) After tending to the girl with the glass in her eyes from the pop bottle explosion, Roy writes a citation for a faulty glass heater to the owner of the lunch stand.  The owner of the lunch stand is shown pouring sweat. It appears hot outside since all passersby are in shirt sleeves. Why would the lunch stand owner be running a gas heater in the middle of the day?

Kids

Story: A number of kids get into trouble. A boy fall down a hole, though Dr. Brackett is sure his injuries are a result of abuse rather than the fall, and is warned that his pursuit of the matter could jeopardize his career. Roy and Johnny rescue a boy trapped who's head is trapped in a crawlspace vent. A young hiker is injured in a canyon fall. The station gets a new mascot.

Goofs:  (1) When they’re hauling the hiker up the cliff (no, really, it doesn’t look like a dummy, not at all) (2) Roy looks at map before address is given. (3) When they leave for their first run the guys in the engine put their turnout coat on when they arrive at the scene they are not wearing them. (4) When Johnny grabs the kid in the hole and he is being pulled out by his fellow firefighters, he shakes his head which is all dusty and dirty. When he is seen at the hospital later, his head is all nice and clean and his hair is combed.

018 Fuzz Lady

Gage falls for an overzealous police woman  and Rampart Hospital's Emergency Ward is besieged by a rash of burglaries. Guest star: Sharon Gless

019 Trainee

A former Vietnam War medic joins the fire department and volunteers for paramedic training  but his actions nearly cause three tragic mistakes. Guest star: Robert Pratt  Jackie Coogan

A car leaves an overpass and crashes into a transfer truck filled with pesticides.

While the firemen respond to a case of difficult breathing, the victim’s neighbor drowns in a hot tub. Vince is involved in a traffic accident and goes crazy due to a head injury, pulling his gun on Johnny.

 

18.   Firehouse Quintet

20.   Isolation

Roy and John are trapped at Station 86 when a rain storm washes out the bridge, and they become the only medical treatment in the area. They assist two victims of an auto accident and a child with bronchitis. Doctors at the hospital treat a policeman hit by lightning. With the aid of a female psychiatrist, the paramedics treat an elderly woman with a hip injury and a man with heart trouble. Copter 15 transports the victims to the hospital, where a power failure complicates matters. Dr. Morton accompanies the paramedics back to Station 86, where they respond to an auto accident with multiple injuries.
